Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) is one of the most common hearing tests used to evaluate hearing ability. At AB Speech & Hearing Solution Clinic in Mogappair, our audiologists perform this test to measure how well a person can hear different sound frequencies and identify the degree of hearing loss.
Pure Tone Audiometry is a hearing test that measures a person's ability to hear different pitches and sound levels. The test helps determine the softest sounds a person can hear at various frequencies.
This test is performed using specialized equipment called an audiometer and headphones. The results are plotted on an audiogram chart which helps audiologists identify the type and severity of hearing loss.
During the test, the patient wears headphones and listens to a series of tones at different pitches and volumes. Whenever a sound is heard, the patient responds by pressing a button or raising their hand.
The audiologist records the responses and creates an audiogram which shows the hearing threshold levels for each ear.
Based on the results, the audiologist explains the hearing condition and recommends appropriate solutions such as hearing aids, therapy, or medical consultation.
